Sometimes life can be in the simplest terms “Difficult.” I was speaking to a women around 45 years old. Rhonda had decided she just wanted to give up. Give up on life. She began to explain how she just didn’t want to live anymore. She had gone through a bitter divorce, her eldest son had been gun down by his girl friend last year and she had to file bankruptcy. Her once credit score of 800 was now 602 at best. We met a local coffee shop. As soon as I glanced at her face I could see dried tears. Tears of defeat. With a strong embrace I began to hug her and whispered in her ear “it’s okay to cry.” After we both stood there in tears the customers began to chatter. I didn’t care I knew Rhonda needed to know someone cared and there was hope. As we began to sit down a man came over and asked if he could buy us coffee, we said sure. I ordered green mint tea and Rhonda ordered black tea. She spoke about all her hard aches, her pain her disappointments. How she felt defeated. And again through her hurt she began to weep. I gently reached over and touched her hand and intently listened some more. After 45 minutes she finally took a deep breath and gazed at me for counsel. I said to her “Beloved Hold On it’s going to be just fine.” She asked me how did I know everything was going to be well. I began to tell her a little story about my own life just 3 years before. A life of struggle, pain and heart break but from that experience came my life of peace, serenity abundance and love. No, It didn’t happen over night. I had to trust God and put the work in to recover and start over. Rhonda was in shock of my journey but even more surprised at my willingness to be vulnerable.
If you have a story don’t be afraid to tell it. Your story may just be someone else’s HOPE to a new life.
