A few days ago my friend Sidney called me elated about a position he was being considered for. He had heard whispers of this position possibly being open in the near future however he didn’t believe it would be so soon. The HR manager approached him and began to tell him about the role and its responsibilities. As he listened intently he began to day dream about how he was not qualified for the role. He didn’t have a degree, he had only been with the company for a short period of time and yet the HR manager had personally ask him to apply. All Sydney could think about was “why are they asking me.” He never considered his years of military experience, his leadership or his time mentoring numerous other employees at the company. As he continued to marvel over the opportunity, I began to think of how good God is. He truly is better to us than we are to ourselves. He’s a Good Good Father. I reflected on all the times we try to make things happen and not trust that when God says he will open the windows of opportunity for us He will do just that in HIS perfect timing. After Sidney finished his spill of “why me” babble the phone grew notably silent then out of no where he said “Your job should prepare you for your work.” This was a quote Sidney has heard from Dr. Myles Monroe earlier in the year. It’s funny at times how God will bring things back to our remembrance in the right moment. We all have a purpose on this earth planet. The challenge is to believe your life is a gift to this world and your day to day job is preparing you for your destiny and your work is smack in the middle. To all military veterans Thank You for Your Sacrifice and Service.
